HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

Hi there,
You're receiving this email because you may have built a website, purchased hosting or domains with my company. One topic this issue which is very simple to implement - enjoy!
How to Keep Website Visitors Coming Back
I'm often asked for simple techniques to engage with website visitors, and as soon as I mention the word "newsletter", eyes glaze over ... and yes, you know who I'm talking about :-) So instead of thinking that Newsletters are in the "too hard basket", let's look at it from a different angle.
What if you asked your potential clients to tell you what their problem was before they found your website? You'd be half way to building a business relationship with this person if you knew what they were trying to solve. So instead of just having a Newsletter sign-up box on your website pages, capture a bit more information, for example:
- name
- email name
- include a question - for example, "What is the main question you'd like answered by us?" - or something similar depending on the product or service you provide.
Asking your potential subscriber to ask YOU a question is beneficial on several levels, the most important being that when you know what your potential client is looking for or wants solved, you can take steps to answer and help them. Let's take it a step further.
Once you have these questions from your new subscribers, you can turn each question into :
- a topic for your Newsletter (answer one question for each Newsletter)
- a topic for an email in an automated email series (called autoresponders)
- a new page on your website, linked from ...
- a page on your site filled with questions - FAQ's.
Are you starting to see how your new subscribers can actually help you provide content for your site, but most importantly provide an opportunity for you to ANSWER the question and solve their issue/problem? A true 'win/win' situation.
This works whether you have a travel website, a craft site, small business, product or service website across all fields. Everyone has questions.
One other huge benefit of having a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page (each question hyperlinked to a new page providing the answer), is that the search engines absolutly love it. When people go to search engines, they type complete sentences like, "How do I ...?". If you have a whole page dedicated to questions, and they link to answers, the search engine robots will keep coming back often to see what all the activity is on your website :-) One last tip
If you can provide a method of other website visitors to make comments on the 'answer' pages, you're engaging another level of subscribers. Encourage others to post comments (and questions), and you'll have even more activity on your website, keeping the content fresh. And who loves that? Exactly! The search engine robots :-)
So - think about this over the holiday break. Even if you don't have a newsletter system yet, start writing a list of all the questions you might get asked about your site. Now turn that into a page, then create a page for every answer. If you try this technique, I'd love to see your hard work - send me a link to your FAQ page, thanks!
